Is there a way to browse the full content of a website in C#?
I mean, I do know how to retrieve the homepage of a website and put its contents into a string, by using WebRequest/WebResponse objects, but I need to find a way to retrieve ALL pages in a website and put them in an array.

I struggled a bit with this, and realised that I could make use of a site's sitemap file, and parse it - then I could get a list of all pages and their paths. But, how could I retrieve the sitemap of a website? I can't just assume the sitemap file is located in the root folder:

http://www.example.com/sitemap.xml

.. that would be hardcoding which i don't want.

I am in a bit of a pickle right now with my XML sitemap generation.

Background:

My website is over 400,000 pages and growing constantly every day. This is proving to be hard to keep up with when actually tryign to find out exactly how many pages there are. the site is built on code ignitor PHP framework and references to 5 DBs.

I have tried to create an xml sitemap via a script on my server that generates URLs from the DB. This is not working really as it breaks every now and then. Its too server intensive and kills the site. I have had my developers try to optimise this by creating delays in the DB queries etc and what not.. there are just too many pages to index.

Hello All,

we are running a site with over 10,000 pages and close to 1,000 docs as PDF and .doc files.

For a long time we have used Perlfect Search for our internal website search. Unfortunately we are not very happy with Perlfect Search anymore, since it seems to have trouble with the http search of so many pages. Indexing takes days and recently seems to abort.

Now I wounder, if there aren't better and maybe faster search engines recently.

Can someone give me sore recommendation.

We use ht access to define SEO urls. But when a sitemap is generated. it generates with the usual dynamic urls, instead of the SEO urls.

I wish to know

1. Sitemap will always be generated with the normal dynamic urls only or it is possible to develop SEO urls for sitemap.
2. By doing this, whether my site will get encouraged or discouraged by major search engines, viz., google, yahoo and bing.
