I’m sorry I’ve been MIA from the blog for a week as I’ve been under the plague, or something like that. Here’s a quick rundown of the past week: If you’re interested in tech startups or going behind the scenes of Code Anthem, I’ve started blogging about it here: Monkey-Read, Monkey-Do Entrepreneurship Manifesto for Half-Arsed Agile Software Development Working software over comprehensive documentation … as long as that software is comprehensively documented How I learned to love the new

Software Building & Herding Cats
We interrupt our regular programming …
Code Anthem will be launching into beta next week so we’ve got our heads down working. In the meantime, enjoy this hilarious video about building software.
If you’ve never seen it before: it’s awesome. If you have seen it before: it actually gets better with age.
Enjoy!
How Code Anthem Works. Really really.
If you’ve stopped by Code Anthem in the past few days, you’ve noticed our brand new design. That’s the side effect of Code Anthem going into the long-awaited, much anticipated private beta. We’re keeping the PR fanfare to a minimum during the private beta, but at the very least, I am jumping up and down.

Long time readers probably have a decent idea of what Code Anthem is about, but here’s a no holds barred run-down of how we’re going to save our little nook of the world.Guest Post: How I Got 50K Visitors in my First Month
I have a guest post up at Remarkablogger today about the great response to the Code Anthem blog in our first month from you fine folks. It’s a good read for anyone interested in blogging, start-ups or general movement-starting activities. Or if you just want a meta-post about what’s going on behind-the-scenes here at Code Anthem (on the blog/marketing side, at least).
“I am in the process of launching my startup, Code Anthem, for great programmers and the companies that hire them. I was thinking over some of the logistics of running a private beta program and realized that I needed a group of people who could be my beta testers, early adopters and even evangelists when we launched.A Sip of the Agile KoolAid for Programmers
There is a lot of mystique associated with being “agile”. Even for developers who are usually so tech-savvy, they talk about agile in odd terms – like my grandma might ask what the web is used for.
Like:
“I guess I’m a little a bit agile, but I really like to use use cases – does agile have use cases?”
Or,
“I woudn’t want to do scheduled releases like agile because I don’t want to send the customer half-finished features.”
They really just have no idea what agile is…
I get it. I hate buzzwords and bandwagons, too.
The difference is that I’ve been on multiple agile teams that were so incredibly successful that I am sold.Tenets of a Software Architect
When you’ve spent many years toiling as a lowly programmer then at some point you can hope to be promoted up to the venerated position of software architect. The actual qualifications that separate the two are rather blurry, but once you do have the title then your reponsibilities change completely.
Agree with me, or you clearly don’t understand … security concerns, proper development of modular application design or highly scalable software.
I don’t write code … and if I do start writing code, you’ll pray for me to stop. Our Favorite YouTube Videos This Week: The Love Edition
Among all the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune this week — folks fuming about iPhones, Biebs and Gaga clawin’ to the death, Mel Gibson… doing stuff — we thought it prudent to inject a little sunshine, hence the theme of this week’s roundup: looooooove. The Old Spice Dude started the goodwill train, and we’re here to help it pull into the happiness station… or something. I mean, not truly, ’cause a lot of the following videos are satirical and not all that uplifting, but it’s better than seeing how many crumpled pieces of paper you can get in the office trash can while lamenting your dateless Saturday night, amirite? Love ya all! Happy weekend. What is Truly Automated, Adaptive PPC Bid Management Technology?
If you invested in bid management software within the past few years, chances are high that you were probably duped in one key area: automation.
Now, before you think I’m about to split hairs here…let’s walk through a few basics to make sure we’re on the same page…and…wait…who am I kidding? This might make you mad – or it will make ppc software companies mad so I suppose it really might split a few hairs.

The definition I think fits best for what I’m talking about is this one:
