Samsung said today it will be holding it mobile bada Developer Day in London on Friday June 18.
It will be Samsung’s first UK bada developers’ event following the launch of bada SDK. The event is aimed at encouraging bada application development and assisting developers and their communities.
The Developer Day is structured around bada platform introduction, programming samples configured for specific technologies and applications based on bada platform SDK, and a variety of demonstrations using real mobile phones.

Samsung: Galaxy S Getting Android Froyo Update in September
Samsung has just confirmed that it will be bringing the Android 2.2 update — also known as Froyo — to its Galaxy S devices this September.The confirmation came via Samsung UK’s Twitter account, which says that “it’s currently in development” and “will be released for all networks at the end of September.” As we noted in our review of the Galaxy S Captivate, the device ships with Android 2.1, which means that some of the enhancements of the latest and greatest Android aren’t available on the stellar handset. Samsung has announced the beta release of its bada Software Developer Kit for its open mobile platform.
The bada platform allows developers to create feature-rich applications that improve the user mobile experience. A new UI framework is provided, which supports the next generation Samsung TouchWiz UI. Samsung bada also supports a control for Adobe Flash, a web browser control, motion sensing, fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection.
To access the SDK visit the Samsung bada developer website. It offers bada tutorials, the bada API reference documentation, and the bada developer guide. Users can also communicate with other bada application developers and bada technicians through online forums.Samsung Starts $2.7M Dev Challenge
Samsung wants a mobile operating system called bada to get off to a good start, and before long, a whole lot of developers will, too. Samsung’s decided to put up $2.7 million in prize money for the bada Developer Challenge.
The basic purpose of the bada Developer Challenge is to have people make applications that will run on bada. Registration starts today, and then the contest will run for six months, with two three-month rounds. The top prize will be an impressive $300,000, with $100,000, $60,000, $40,000, $30,000, and $8,000 prizes also up for grabs.

Samsung has launched its “Free the TV Challenge” to find applications for IPTVs, Blu-ray players and Blu-ray home theater systems.
Developers in the U.S. can register for the Free the TV Challenge today. To be eligible, developers must live in the United States, submit the final app and provide a video that showcases how the app works to Samsung by November 11, 2010. The contest will be administered by New York-based startup ChallengePost, and entries will be judged based on the quality of the idea, functional implementation, and visual appeal.
