This Makes No Senseview story

http://forums.digitalpoint.com – So I've been working with a client for about six months now, its a big company. I'm trying to get the 1 for a certain term and it makes no sense i'm not there. I have more backlinks, better quality backlinks, older domain age, excellent tags, higher PR than most of the guy ahead of me? Any suggestions to what might be going on? I guess they have less content on page, but I went through the other guys sites and counted how many times the term was said I'm trying to rank for and its about the same. (Web Design)

Right, I've a site that I've been running for 11 months and the domain is .info

Its in a small niche but I'm happy with it. Its more a hobby forum that is starting to get active. I rank 4th for my keyword and have around 3500+ backlinks and a pr3. A 5 year+ .net domain of the same domain as my .info became available yesterday and I bought it. What's the best way of setting this up. I'd say a .net is liked more by big G than .info and its also older too.

EDU Backlinks is a Waste of Time? 2 weeks 6 days ago

Hi fellow marketers,

I have been working on the SEO of one of my sites and I built about 30 .edu backlinks in about a week. Now when I check them I see that about half of them are gone(deleted by admins). So, am I doing something wrong or building .edu backlinks is nothing but a waste of time.

Notes: I saw some short term boost in my rankings for a few days. My comments were all related to the posts, not simply spams such as "nice share, great post,...". But I guess edu blog owners do not look at the comment, they filter comments by looking at the URL of the comment. And once they spot a marketing-oriented blog they simply delete it. I guess, it will be better to find non-active auto-approve edu blogs.

Is domain age THAT important to Google ???? 25 weeks 4 days ago

I'm trying to rank a new site (nearly 2 months old) , for a keyword that returns 94 millions results on Google.
I made my homework and manually checked all sites on first page (links, age, onpage SEO, etc.)
I made onpage SEO for my website and I started to build links 6 weeks ago. Now I have much more backlinks than my competitors and links from higher PR pages as well but I'm still nowhere to be found, so the only diference between my website and first 10 sites for that keyword is just the age of the domain. Do you think it matters that much?????

and for keyword "hot kiss" hotkiss.com was taken, so i choose hotkisses.com

how can the site free1600microsoftpoints.com rank #1 on big G for the search term "Free Microsoft Points"?! It hardly has any quality backlinks. Most are from forum profiles so I wonder how the site can rank so high?

My site ( in signature) currently ranks either on the 4th or 5th page of Google for the search term: free itunes gift card. I have been working on this site for a few months and have done link exchanges, unique article submissions, and some blog commenting.

What can I do to improve my serps (ideally first page of Google). Should I look into link wheels or more blog comments?

i am running a website from 1 year and it has page rank 3.But the domain is not TLD (top level domain), it is a co.cc domain.It is going to expire with in 20 days so i purchased a new domain(.in).Now how will i redirect the new domain to older domain(either 301 or 302) so new domain get full benefit of page rank and page rank of 3 remains maintain.i read some blog.some one said first redirect via 302 for some time then 301.some blogs says -Google treat badly for 302 redirect.

Hey all,

The site for our company is currently at the top of the second page of Google for a very high search term keyword that would bring us a lot of customers, however I am having trouble getting that last couple of positions higher to push us over to the first page :o

I've done pretty much every form of unpaid SEO I can think of, the only thing that I haven't really explored is getting more back links from higher page rank sites (even though we currently have hundreds of relevant back links as one of our services is web design and we put a back link on every one of our customer's sites).

Any thoughts for the last, final push? Anyone else in a similar situation? :confused:

Easy way to get on Google's first page 5 weeks 1 day ago

To get on Google's first page for my search term, is this all I have to do:

1. find out how many times my competitors have used my search term, and outnumber them.

2. find out how many inbound links my competitors have from influential sites, and try to match that by purchasing links.

Of course, there are on-site things I must have in place. The tags, the copywriting, etc. But if I do these well, can I do #1 and #2 above and get on the 1st page of Google?

Also, which SEO service is best for analyzing my competitors' keywords & back links?
