Or not... Having the your keyword phrase as the domain name is a great advantage

Should You Buy An Exact Match Domain Name?
According to Matt Cutts, speaking at a recent PubCon, Google will be looking at why exact domain matches rank so well. For example, if you have a site at blue-widgets.com it may rank a bit too well for the keyword phrase [blue widgets].
Curious.
Don't Google know? ;)
More likely, Matt would not make a concrete statement, one way or the other. "Yes, exact Match domains rank better!", is not something Matt is likely to say.
Secondly, the implication is that exact match domains are a problem.
Why Use Exact Match Domain Names
Exact match domains names, as the name suggests, are domain names that match the search keyword term. i.e. Hotels.com, shoes.net, planetickets.org etc. Site Review: Find the Right Domain Name with PCNames.com

expired domains... worth it?
I'm thinking of purchasing some expired domains, to utalise their PR and links and age.
I can't find any within my niche, specifically...
ie: the domain names are not similar to what I am doing... But...
I figure I can build them up, and then link from them to my site.
If I were to try buy some, would they necessarily keep their age/PR/links?
Or do expired domains loose them in the transfer process?
In effect am I merely buying a very expensive domain and gaining no advantage from it?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.competing against 400 million results
Hi, I'm looking at buying a domain that is a very common phrase..for example.."iwantagirlfriend" (no that isn't the one I'm looking at haha). When I search google for this phrase (separated by spaces) I see over 400 million results. I guess my question is is it even worth buying? google keywords says the phrase gets 30k hits a month but to me isn't it useless if I can't get to the top page of search results? Missed out on a great .com domain name? Well, maybe you can still get the .co variety. Registry operator of .co domains, .CO Internet S.A.S., today announced that .co domains are available through registers such as GoDaddy.com, Register.com, Network Solutions, and others. For all practical purposes, .co domains are the same as .com domains; that means they are available to everyone and come on a first-come, first-serve basis. One of the biggest advantages of the .co TLDs, besides the fact that they’re similar to .com TLDs, is the fact that they are already widely recognized, as more than 20 countries, including the UK (.co.uk) and Japan (.co.jp), already use them for their country specific domains.Domains
I have a newbie question regarding domain and SEO.
Let's say I buy a domain name with the url being exactly the search phrase for my targeted keywords would I be pretty high in Google automatically or would it still require a lot of seo work?
For example let's take the phrase "hitch" if I had hitch.com would I be on top for the search phrase "hitch".
The niche I am thinking about is very small and does not have as many competitors as the word "hitch" have.
Appreciate all the help.

Hello all, I've been here a while but still quite a noob when it comes to old fashioned marketing.
I'm launching a website soon and I have a main domain name. What I'm wondering is whether or not buying multiple domain names for the website based on search terms is a decent method for bringing in traffic.
So my website domain is going to be rh.tv ... but lets say i bought a domain for rugbyvideos.com, rugbyclips.com, rugbyhighlights.com, rugbytackles.com
etc etc etc.
Would this increase search engine traffic? Or am I way off in my line of thinking?
Thanks for any responses :)
