Just read an interesting post on link building methods and risks. It's a summary of a presentation by Jim Boykin at SES London. To summarise the post:If you're targetting short-tail competitive keywords, you'll need to buy links if you want to rank #1
Buying links is worthwhile, but carries a small risk. The more links you buy the greater the risk. This applies to blog reviews, which provide an initial boost in rankings until the post drops off the homepage (at which point your rankings fall back).Page Rank Sculpting
This is the second part of a two-part article on page rank optimization and page rank sculpting. To understand it better please read the first article . It covers such topics as relevancy vs importance how PR is calculated dampening factor and more. PR(yoursite) = (1-d) + d * ( PR(A1) / N(A1) + … + PR(An) / N(An) )
d:constant = 0.85
An: The page which has a link to your website
N(An): The number of links which are also going to other websites
You have a few links towards you, let's say it is three, than;
If all of thast site's page rank 0 => Your page rank will be 0,15 * 3 = 0,45;
If all of that site's page rank 1 => Your page rank will be 0,15 * 3 + (1/10)*3 = 0,75; (I thought that each website's has 10 links which are going to other sites).
By the way if each site's page rank is different from each other use the formula.

Hey.
I actually know what these are but some experience I've gained with websites makes me think about some certain technical things. Now that I have a place to discuss so here they are,
-> Keyword rank is a Page's rank or Website's rank ?
-> How can we check a keyword rank for multiple websites ?
Like I have 10 sharing websites. I want to share my blog post. I want to share it on the website which has the maximum rank for that specific keyword. How do I find that ? And is this useful like I will use the rank of that specific website for bringing traffic to me .
-> How do you rank up in SERPS ?
Multiple keywords, same URL, same page?
I've wondered about this for a quite a while so I'm hoping someone has some insights into this!
If I'm trying to rank well for multiple keywords on the same page is it ok to link to the same URL on the same page multiple times?
For example:
I have just written an article and I want to promote the page www.awesome.com/cool_link.html but I want this page to rank well for the keywords "awesome link", "cool link" and "really cool link".
Would it be beneficial to have all 3 links/keywords in the same article all linking to the same page?
Or would it be better to write 3 articles and have 3 anchor links?
I hope this isn't too confusing! Any help is much appreciated
