http://forums.digitalpoint.com – I recently ran an ad which sent me 3k visitors per day, then quickly noticed massive jumps in rankings. I didn't realise how much Google was using that signal in its algorithm these days. My site was fairly new with not many backlinks (but targetted and quality backlinks) It took me above competitors with 1000s more backlinks and much older domains. Anyone else noticed this more recently?

http://forums.digitalpoint.com – Previously I did some testing of PR ranks and on On some blogs and also some classifieds/sales/auction sites I've seen that there are repetetive link lists in the widgets. Here is how they are structured. Just assume you got ten blogs, each with his own domain or subdomain. On one widget of each blog there is a list with links to each of the 10. So each blog will also have 9 backlinks from each of the other blogs/sites and this multiplied by the pages on each site/blog. All These blogs seem to do well regarding PR and visitors. Now my question is, whether this PR power stems from the link network OR is google penalizing this kind of link networks?

I read them on forums all across the web, on blogs as comments, on more forums that support these same outmoded and surely “past their best-before date” opinions, that this is the ‘good stuff’ to get your site up onto page #1. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! They’re still wrong!
